Let’s start at the very beginning because that’s a very good place to start – or so they said in the Sound of Music.

Just like anyone else I like music and I always have. It is part of our DNA and as we travel through our lives it is the beating heart of our souls. It’s why a song can be so emotional as it takes us back to some place, person or event.

I never thought I was musical and some would still say that – but that’s the point – I wanted to do something about it and my musical journey happened purely by accident.

It was early 2016 and a big event was coming up very quickly. I knew that I had to give a special personalised present to someone special – Yes, I did think of a signed photograph – but that would be the last thing someone would want!

As I reached the bottom stair one morning in February 2016 I had a road to Damascus moment. I would write a song. Why not?

As I stepped off the last step into the hallway I had my Iphone in my hand and a chest infection, complemented by the seeds of a mad idea that I – a musically challenged person – could write a song.

What could I write about?

How long should it be?

………………and how will I create the music and put it all together?

Then came the big, big question:

Give yourself a good reason why you shouldn’t write a song? and that is when sanity overtook insanity!

Well there were four reasons why not – four huge reasons why I should not contemplate writing a song and I’ll tell you what they were in the next edition of this blog.

Musically yours,

Odynson
